Canadian consumers have already spent more than $4.1 million on Artecoll alone. And that's just a piece of the cosmetic injectables market.
Q-MED Canada's general manager, Andre Maraldo, says consumers have so far spent about $6 million on his company's hyaluronic acid injectables — sold as Perlane and Restylane — with sales doubling every year over the past three years.
Maraldo happily lists Artecoll's flaws but says there's no campaign under way to undermine Canderm's product.
"That's ridiculous," he says, adding that concerns, such as those expressed by the Swiss health authorities, reflect a real problem. "That's not something I fabricated. It's factual."
