Changing your nose can change a man’s life — or not.
Reshaping the nose is now the number one surgical cosmetic procedure among men, up by 64 percent since 1997. There’s a number of reasons, says Plastic surgeon and University of Toronto professor Dr. David Ellis. Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is easier to perform than ten years ago, and new technology, results that are more precise, and easier recovery have made it simpler for both surgeon and patient.
Yet for such a simple protruding organ, the nose wields a great deal of power. Start playing with the nose, and you start playing with the human psyche. Just ask any plastic surgeon.
Young women may become confident and stylish. Men, on the other hand, don’t usually show such strong “secondary gains.” But they can be predictably sensitive about their protruding organs.
