I am 47 yrs old and had silicone breast implants for 9 years, until I found out they were ruptured so I had them removed. The plastic surgeon removed them from under my arms but never removed the capsule. I began to get really sick with rashes, hives and incredible hard massive lumps all over my body. Some days my face was so swollen I couldn't see. My lips were 10 times the original size. I fought with the insurance company to have a capsulectomy done and they refused. The capsule has migrated through my body. I have been a pharmaceutical testing ground for the last 4 years.
No doctor can help me - they have given me such mega-doses of predisone that I have gained 60lbs and now steroids have produced so many other symptoms that I'm even sicker. I have lost my husband, job and any quality of life.
I have a son who is 10. He has to live with a sick mommy. No child should have to witness his mom in such a deforming condition. He has been robbed of the life he was supposed to have
Additional thoughts: My doctor was very qualified. He was a good surgeon, except he didn't tell me the truth about implants. I asked a lot of questions because I was planning on doing ivf. I wanted to breast feed etc - well he sold me a bunch of lies.

Our weight alone is not a sufficient measure to assess our risk for disease. Total body fat, fat distribution and the consequences of dieting must be considered as well.
