Its not always perfect

Pros:
Look better..have cheek bones again.
Cons:
Uncomfortable for a while. After 3 months, still have tight feeling in neck. Not completely satisfied.
Cost:
$6700

Healing time:
5 weeks

Pain-o-meter:  5

I wanted a face lift due to my jowls. I am thin and have a very thin face, but it was sagging. I talked to a couple other people who had used this doctor, and they thought he was wonderful. Also checked him out with my dermatologist. I had a face, neck, under eyes, and supposedly corner of eyes lifted.

I looked terrible the first couple days, and I slept in a recliner for 3 weeks, so I wouldn't lay on the sides of my face. I had a drain in the back of my neck for blood to drain. It is supposed to be removed the day after surgery. After it was removed, blood collected in my neck. I looked like I had a sausage around my neck. The doctor had to remove it. I now have a kind of a lumpy area where that skin had puffed out. It supposedly is supposed to go away with time.

I never left the house for 3 weeks. I was not in a lot of pain, just uncomfortable. I had pills for pain and infection.

It has been 3 months, and I still have a tight feeling under my chin, and in my neck. I also have some numb spots, but they don't bother me. I think the swelling is all gone. I am not completely happy with my eyes, my lumpy neck, and the one side of my face. I think the left side is tighter than the right. I will be going back in a month to see what the doc says.

I definitely look better, and feel better, but I keep wondering if this is it now, or will it keep changing and go back to how it was. No one other than my husband and doctors know I had anything done. If anyone suspects it, no one has said so.
I am 56, and I had a doctor who I had never met before my surgery tell me that he thought I was about 45.

I would say I'm about 80% satisfied.. I would tell anyone who is really unhappy with how they look to go ahead and do what makes you feel good about yourself.

Here are more details:

How results differed from what I expected:
My eyes are not as I would like. They are not raised up at the corners as were supposed to be. My left eye has a little ridge, which seems to give me a hollowed out look under my eye. My neck is very lumpy, and tight feeling, after 3 months. I also have a deeper laugh line on the right side than I do the left. The left side is about what you should have, but the right is more saggy looking.

Biggest fears pre-procedure:
Anesthesia, heard too many horror stories.
Not getting the results I wanted.

Healing aids used:
No

Number of doctors consulted:
1

Number of years I thought about having the procedure:
5

Had an elective procedure before:
Yes

Complications or follow-up procedures:

Blood settled in my neck. Had to have it suctioned out. May have eyes done over, if doctor agrees.
