Liposculpture Experience

Pros:
THE RESULTS - I'm VERY happy with the results.
Cons:
Swelling and "traveling" bruises.
Had to wear a "garment".
Hard to hide in clothing.
Cost:
$8500

Healing time:
8 weeks

Pain-o-meter:  9

I have absolutely no regrets other than wishing I had done it last Winter. I do have some loose skin - not as much as I had expected though. Two weeks ago I went to the beach and actually felt good about the way I looked in my bathing suit.

Two days post-op:

I had liposuction on my inner and outer thighs, anterior and posterior waist (I would have called that my hips), and buttocks on Friday, May 12. My surgeon has excellent credentials (board certification, etc.) and I feel that is very important. The cost was within the range I'd expected (5-10k), but closer to the high-end of the range than I'd hoped. You also get extra costs - anthestics, analogous blood donation, physical, prescriptions, homeopathic remedies, etc. that leave you feeling a little nickled
and dimed.

I was advised that my "garment" would need to be worn for 6 weeks. My first one came off the day after surgery during my first post-op follow-up (I passed out). I removed the second one on Monday to take a shower (HEAVEN), but experienced a marked increase in swelling in my lower legs (calves look like stumps) even though I put the garment back on immediately. I hadn't expected the extreme swelling and "traveling" bruises. I had imagined going back to work the Tuesday after surgery, but here I am laying in bed with my legs elevated and iced down with bags of frozen corn--I'm going to try to go back tomorrow.

In my attempt to conceal the surgery, I have almost run out of clothes. The "garment" was below-knee length and I also wore a binder that was difficult to hide under Spring/Summer clothing. I'd have to say that this surgery is best scheduled for late Fall or Winter. Jackets and long skirts are the best combination for hiding everything.

Realistically, I'd recommend anyone contemplating this to allow a week to recover. The first day I couldn't get into or out of bed without help. Each day gets easier, but I am definitely uncomfortable.

Ok, now the good part. My surgeon was agressive. He removed about 4.5 liters of fat. I CAN SEE IMMEDIATE RESULTS. I didn't think I would see a difference this soon, but I do. I'm 44 and have loose skin and cellulite. It will be interesting to see just how much the skin compresses. We all go into this wanting to be able to wear the same size pants as the blouse, but deep down we also want to look better WITHOUT our clothes. I'll let you know.
