Laser Resurfacing

Pros:
Definitely smoother.
Cons:
I STILL dind't look 20 anymore!!!!!!
Cost:
$3000. plus anesthesia

Healing time:
2 weeks........

Pain-o-meter:  3

I had one browlifted and one lower lid lifted at the same time. (See story under browlift.) Those two procedures caused much more problems than the laser. My laser was the less invasive one because I have "thin skin" and the doctor didn't want to risk scarring.
I was told to cleanse the area 3 to 6 times a day and I did it at least that often. The part I just could NOT do was the vinegar solution application. I stood it for about 6 times and it was like pouring acid on a sunburn: very stinging even with codeine on board. I even tried diluting it more and refrigerating it. The wiping, washing, and ointment application was not bad. You could see the skin look better almost each time I did it. The healing was way faster than I thought as far as redness and open areas. At first I thought I was all healed and was not overly thrilled with the results. But as weeks went by I continued to improve, just not as dramatically. Weeks later I was still improving, presumably due to a slower sloughing.
I am overall pleased with the results but I have to wonder why it costs so much.

Here are more details:

How results differed from what I expected:
I wish he could have gone closer in at the eyes but for other medical reasons he could not. Otherwise it was OK.

Biggest fears pre-procedure:
Post-op hyper or hypo pigmentation, (lasting skin discoloration), which did not happen.
Acne breakout which didn't happen.

Healing aids used:
Just light facial peel product I used at home for two weeks pre-op. Steroids, antibiotics, and anti-viral meds (to ensure against fever blisters which I have never had.)

Number of doctors consulted:
one who was recommended.

Number of years I thought about having the procedure:
under a year

Had an elective procedure before:
Yes

Complications or follow-up procedures:

Not specified
