I am a 49 yr. old female and always had a complex regarding my double chin. I never thought I could afford plastic surgery, I was referred to a teaching clinic in Boston where a head resident in plastic surgery performed the procedure.
I decided this was for me so I had someone get me a loan to pay the $5,000.00. I was told surgery would be approximately two hours. It turned out to be five. I was told about the tubes in the back of my head and I was prepared for that.
I was told the bandage and staples would be removed when I was discharged from the hospital but they were not removed until five days later and it was only the stiches that were removed, which I was not aware I had because of the bandages.
I was very uncomfortable and could not sleep so I had to use prescription drugs to sleep. The 18 staples were removed 8 days later and I was not told about the internal dissolving stiches that came out of my cuts and I pulled or had someone try to cut them thinking they were permanent ones.
Needless to say it is almost one month and there is some difference as far as the double chin, I am still numb and stiff and my chin is bumpy and has lines. I can only pray that this will go away soon. I am going to see the head surgeon in two weeks and will discuss all my concerns with him. I can honestly say I am not pleased as of yet, until I speak with the surgeon and get his input on the final look.
