About a year ago - I started getting really stressed out because I started my own company.

As a result, I started compulsively scratching my legs involuntarily in my sleep - I would scratch so much I would bleed, which would leave deep welts in my legs. As a result, I have scars that cover my legs from ankle to knee, and it ain’t a pretty site.

I went to see about 5 dermatologists, and they did the whole test thing, biopsies, blood tests, allergy tests - you name it. After about 5 misdiagnoses, a good derm finally told me what he thought: that it was a combination of ingrown hairs irritating my skin, and something that he called 'neuro-dermatosis" - where scratching is the response to stress. His solution was to 'prescribe' 5 sessions of high speed microdermabrasion to eliminate the top layer of skin, and to look into laser hair removal.

After the five treatments, my legs are dry and itchy as heck, but I can see an improvement. The only problem is is that I cannot keep scratching, and I am sure if I can stop it, that the scars will naturally resolve itself. The next step is to go find out about laser hair removal, but there is so much confusion out there with what types of lasers, and what works best on which skin types, that I am not sure either.

If anyone has any information out there on laser hair removal, can you please post your story in the message board, I just want to know if people have had good luck with it.
