I was involved in a car accident a year ago. I had a lot facial trauma from the air bag. My complexion was nearly flawless (except for gentle aging) but now I have these very pronounced broken blood vessels. I saw several doctors, many pros and cons here. And decided that the laser surgery was the lesser of two evils.
The other choice would have been to have my face "injected" with saline type solution to dissolve the vessels. Apparently, very painful, many, many treatments and very low end results.
The laser surgery felt like being shot in the face at close range with a pellet gun and burned terribly. After surgery, I looked like someone had brutally beaten me in the face with their fists. Ice and petroleum jelly are the only post-op treatments.
I was very fortunate that I did not blister and peel. Swelling and bruising subsided slowly (each person is different) as did the pain.
Some vessels are still apparent after one treatment and will need one or two more treatments for nearly complete removal.
