I have joked around for years about chopping my breasts off. I have always wanted smaller breasts since I was in middle school. I had a size D breast in 7th grade. My track teacher pulled me aside in practice and told me I should start wearing a bra. I was...actually two my regular bra and a sports bra.

Fast forward to 2001. I saw a program on TV that dealt with breast implants and breast reductions. That fueled the fire.

I called many doctors and the first doctor I saw I went with. This was because I was very comfortable with the doctor. Finding the right doctor is very important. I want to stress that a lot. After finding my doctor and my insurance covering 90 percent of the surgery cost I was psyched.

I went into surgery on Jan. 30th. I thought I would be scared but actually I was quiet calm. I had my surgery at an outpatient clinic and when I woke up I felt a great deal of pain but they gave me a narcotic analgesic when I woke up so I was fine after 15 mins.

Recovery is not painful, it’s just so much discomfort. You can't and don't want to move. There is pain but if you stay on top of your pain pills you will be fine. You can move more and be more independent after 3 weeks. There will be sharp shooting pain so carry some aspirin with you.

I am now 4 weeks post-op and I am perfect. My breasts are starting to soften and my scars look great. They go around the nipple down and underneath the breast. I have some pain now and then but not enough to stop what I am doing.

I love my new shape and I am so happy that I had the procedure. If you are interested in a surgery, please look into it. You will be so glad that you did. Also there is a great website that helped me its called Renea's Breast reduction page. This website is filled with pictures and great information. I encourage you to look into it.
