Pain-o-meter:  9

After much research I decided to have the laser resurfacing done in England. I met the surgeon for approx. 15 minutes. After the resurfacing I remained there for one day. The pain was amazing and I had to cover my face with blue gunge which got into my eyes and blurred my vision.

The surgeon seemed happy with the operation. The nursing staff were excellent and so were the facilities.I drove home on the Saturday/approx 100 miles with blurred vision. No possibility of staying another night as this wasn't within the budget!!!!!
On my next visit for a check up I found that my surgeon had been suspended by the BMC. Apparently complaints had been made against him. I was seen by another surgeon who patted my hand, had no idea why the red strawberry mark had reappeared on my face and consulted two pieces of paper ( my medical notes).

Several weeks later I went again and in between these visits had to ring up to find out what to use on my skin as anything I used was painful. This irritated me as the aftercare was very important and I was spending a fortune on unsuitable products. I asked why there wasn't a list of products. Was told that they wouldn't be suitable for everyone. The choice would have been nice. During this time I was give a tube of sunblock which proved to be brilliant and two bottles of cleanser and moisturiser, not so brilliant.

Makeup was a major problem as I seemed to be allergic to everything. Between red skin, green makeup and normal makeup, I received some very strange looks. My final visit to the clinic was to see yet another surgeon who couldn't answer any of my questions and I left feeling annoyed and very let down. I returned and complained bitterly. Apparently there had been a number of complaints and the decision was made not to use other surgeons but to wait for mine. Later I received a letter to say that my surgeon would be reinstated in the Spring. It is now the end of May and I have heard nothing. I feel like suing them.

The operation took place in August and at present my skin is still red with red strawberry marks. I blush fairly easily(never used to before)I have to be very careful which products I use otherwise my skin tightens and is uncomfortable. The lines have reappeared and I think it was a total waste of my hard earned money. Would I have it done again? Not for free.

Our weight alone is not a sufficient measure to assess our risk for disease. Total body fat, fat distribution and the consequences of dieting must be considered as well.
