I am just 3 weeks from surgery.

Pain-o-meter:  7

Three weeks ago I had arm lift surgery. I have lost 95 pounds and had what my doctor called bat wing deformity. The flapping of the skin hanging under my arms was just disgusting. I would always have to wear sleeves and buy clothes in a bigger size to accommodate my arms.

I had thought about this for a while and, when my husband gave me the go ahead, I went to see 2 different doctors. I really liked the second one and I decided I was going to do this and not look back.

The procedure took about 2 hours. I was wrapped in gauze bandages and an elastic compression bandage. I had to take pain medicine for the first few days, especially at night. The second day, I got to shower and take the bandages off. I still had some bleeding and oozing, so I had to wear gauze bandages for the week and a half or so.

I had moderate swelling. After 6 days, I went in to have some of the staples taken out. My doctor took out every other one and put steri-strips on for support. Four days later, the rest of the staples were removed. He gave me an ointment to rub on the incision for scarring.

The roughest things so far have been the swelling, the redness and burning on the edge of the incision, and my skin's reaction to all the tape I had to use. I think once the swelling subsides, I will be pleased with the results. Swelling is different on different days. I let you know later how things go.

Thanks for reading.
