When I was 25, I decided to have rhinoplasty. I'd always been unhappy with my nose, which I felt was too big, and had a bump on it.
I went to a doctor who had done the same surgery on a friend of mine, and since my friend seemed happy, I went for it.
Unfortunately, the result of the surgery was not so good. Even after waiting for the swelling to go down, I still had several problem areas and overall the nose did not look good at all. The doctor told me I was being unrealistic, and it was an "improvement" over before, and I should be happy.
Three years later, I could stand it no longer, and I sought a second opinion from another plastic surgeon. He was very professional and very frank with me. He could see exactly what I was unhappy about, and said he could help.
I had the revision surgery, and I am very happy with the results and very pleased with my decision. My nose actually looks more like my natural nose, only nicer. It does not look like an unnatural bad nose job anymore. I've gone from a biggish natural nose, to hard and lumpy Frankennose, to nicer natural-looking nose. I wish the journey hadn't been so emotionally painful (and expensive!), but I'm glad I'm here now.
