I have had bags under my eyes for as long as I remember. When I modeled for a while at 18 - 20 years of age, I considered having the lower lids done, but didn't. I have thought about it ever since. At 40 I felt I looked like a hag! As I lost weight to stay trim after having kids, I lost so much weight in my face everything looked very dragged down. I was always being told how tired I looked. So I bit the bullet and got on with it!
I found a great surgeon. Recommended to me by my GP as well as a dentist I knew through my hairdresser (small world syndrome). The office staff were very professional. For the actual surgery day I was extrodinarily impressed on how attentive they were and how at ease they tried to keep me be letting me know what was to happen and everything all the time. I had a general since I was also have lipo in my tummy (which is great by the way) When I came out of the anesthetic I was groggy and told that the swelling and bruising was on the higher end of the scale. I could still see, but only just. They iced it right away and kept me for about an hour longer than anticipated. I was certainly sore, but not too bad. They gave me a tylenol 3 right away and that was sufficient.
The swelling was bad all that day and we kept ice on it pretty much all the time. The Peas in zip loc bags worked the best.
My husband was very dilegent the frists two days in cleaning and re applying the polysporin to the incisions and I kept it up after that. My bruising and swellling was more than I hoped. I was not fit for the public for at least 10 days and even then, it was not make up ready. I went back to work after 12 days, but really should have taken the full 14 as I looked very rough. Contact lenses were easier than I thought, but the eyes tired more quickly at first.
I am still a little swollen and for the first 3 weeks wondered if there was much of an improvement rather than just a change, but I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
My scars are still redish and swollen and make up is starting to help. All the brusing is gone now.
